Why Build?

Why spend time building projects when you're already taking classes?

Well your formal courses give you the foundation, but it barely gets your feet wet. Your future job interviewer will want to see what you've built (and they're not looking for assignments!) And now in the age of AI, every graduate have three 'projects' they vibe coded yesterday. Want to stand out? Solve a real problem. Deploy and maintain something with real users.

Don't just learn to code. Build.

and still building.

Hackathons, weekly meetups, mamak runs and plenty of late nights. Here's every year of Hackerspace MMU so far.

    We do have smaller years. That's why we finally got ourselves a president (who's presenting here.)

    Geeky tech conversations every meetup.

    Celebrating our 200th meetup anniversary.
    2019 200 Meetups!
    Even the pandemic couldn't keep us from hacking.
    2020 Pandemic couldn't get us.
    We continued to grow even as an online meetup.

    Coming back to the physical meetup saw us squeezing too many people into one room.
    2022 Came back strong!
    We got a bigger venue just to handle all the interest.
    2023 We outgrew our venue.
    A robotics project - some members had a bit of a collab with Cybertron.

    We were in this venue for two years.

    A weekly meetup, a hackathon every trimester, and a few traditions picked up along the way.
